PROJECT SHOEBOX FOR THE TROOPS

The Maryland Chapter Pioneers is piloting a new project “Shoebox for the Troops”. The idea is to encourage as many employees and their families to get involved in Volunteerism through the Pioneers. Click here to see a list of items that are recommended to send to our troops overseas. The drive will begin July 4^th and end on Veterans Day November 11^thculminating with a group of volunteers taking all the items and separating them, and making up Shoeboxes to be sent to our troops. This volunteer activity will take place at the Reisterstown American Legion, Rt. 140, Reisterstown, MD. If you are interested in volunteering to be a coordinator in your building to collect the items and later putting them together, E-mail paul.redline@verizon.net so the proper material can be sent to you. If you are unable to donate specific items and would still like to be involved, a monetary donation can be sent to the Pioneer office. Make checks out to TP-Maryland Chapter, and in the memo section of your check write Shoebox. We will purchase items to be included in the shoeboxes. During this year's Annual Meeting held in February, 2009, a new logo (above) was unveiled for the Pioneers. We now have a partnership with Main Street Embroidery in Reisterstown, Md. who has set up a catalog just for the Pioneers to go and buy clothing, bags, towels, etc. You can have them embroidered with your choice of Pioneer logo, Verizon/Pioneer Logo or nothing at all. For a small fee they will be delivered right to your home. Each item that is purchased, Main Street Embroidery will give the Maryland Chapter Pioneers $2.00 back for our many charitable projects. So don't hesitate get your new shirt, bag, towel, etc. with the new logo.

Maryland CASA Association is the state organization for
Maryland's Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) programs, members of a national network of more than 900 CASA programs serving more than 50,000 children each year. CASA recruits and trains community volunteers who are appointed to serve as advocates for children under the protection of the courts due to abuse and neglect.
The need for volunteers is great, so please consider this very fulfilling volunteer opportunity.
